Elisheva Goldberg X IGS Clay Summer Collaboration

Every summer, Isaac and I meet up at his studio in Bridgehampton for a weekend. The challenge every year is to design and build a new piece or collection along a new theme of object in only a few days. These are our projects from each summer so far.

2025: Judaica

This summer we decided to make Judaica, including two tzedakah boxes, two Kiddush fountains, and Shabbat candlesticks. These are our most architecturally advanced pieces to date; the channels for the wine pour for the fountain and the vaulted lids for the boxes posed new challenges in building. Once we successfully assembled them, we added and carved sculptural detailing onto each surface.

2024: Sodeisha

We prepared for an Anagama wood firing with pieces that would reflect the natural patterns of the ash and flames, producing a Sodeisha-inspired vessel and lamp base.

2023: Tulipière

A few months before the collaboration I had gone to visit Isaac for the weekend while he was living in Amsterdam. For that summer’s collaboration we decided to build our own tulipiΓ¨re, inspired by the Delftware collection we saw in the Rijksmuseum.

2022: Inaugural Weekend

It was an exceptionally hot August on the East Coast. We had a basket of fresh vegetables on the studio table to use as inspiration, eating them as we painted them onto pots.
